The Water Technology team was created to address a need identified during the May 2017 Needs Assessment to decrease the time and effort required for residents in the Panchmahal District to collect water. Over the course of 2017 and 2018, the team developed a prototype to address this problem. In addition to prototype development, we formed partnerships with Self Help Groups (SHG's) in the area to promote sustained adoption of our technologies. Self Help Groups are organizations of 10-20 women within a community that pool their financial resources to invest in projects related to education, healthcare, and agriculture. Upon further investigation and feedback from our community partners, it became clear that the problem of water transport and safety was beyond the scope of the student team. While the team is no longer developing a water transportation device, we remain committed to working with SHG's to promote socially-engaged need identification and design.
